The legislative Assembly of Tonga will reconvene on the 16th of May,2022. The first order of business will be the 2022/2023 Budget Estimate. MPs will be given enough time to go through the 2022/2023 Budget Estimate before debates on the Budget starts. At the same time, MPs can raise any issues of concerns.

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga Lord Fakafanua, Deputy Speaker, Lord Tu’iha’angana and the People’s Representative for Ha’apai 13 Hon. Veivosa Taka, today visited and held separate meetings with people of Lulunga and ‘Otu Mu’omu’a.

THE Hon. Prime Minister today announced moving the red traffic light national lockdown to orange light level for Tongatapu and Vava’u for two weeks. It will come into force this Saturday, April 9 until April 23. This is while a red traffic remains for Ha’apai.

The Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku announced a total of TOP$22 million (Tongan Pa’anga) in financial assistance to businesses, informal sectors, and members of the public in response to the current COVID-19 lockdowns.

THE Prime Minister today announced the lockdown will extended for another week, effective on Sunday, 5:00am March 27 until next Saturday April 2.

The lockdown is only for Tongatapu and Vava'u.
